Justin Borgman

Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder

Justin is Co-Founder and CEO of Hadapt. Prior to Hadapt, Justin led product development for COVECTRA, an anti-counterfeit technology firm. Before that, Justin founded an online social media company and spent the first six years of his career as a software developer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and Raytheon.

Justin has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where he was a Commonwealth Scholar, and attended graduate school at the Yale School of Management.

Dr. Daniel Abadi

Chief Scientist and Co-Founder

Daniel is a recognized expert in database systems and one of the inventors of the patent-pending Adaptive Analytical Platform™.

Daniel received his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where his dissertation on column-store database systems led to the founding of Vertica (recently acquired by Hewlett Packard). He is a recipient of a Churchill Scholarship, an NSF CAREER Award, a Sloan Research Fellowship, the 2008 SIGMOD Jim Gray Doctoral Dissertation Award, and the 2007 VLDB best paper award.

In addition to serving as Chief Scientist at Hadapt, he also serves as a faculty member in Yale University’s Computer Science department. He blogs at DBMS Musings and tweets at @daniel_abadi.

Kamil Bajda-Pawlikowski

Chief Software Architect and Co-Founder

Kamil is Chief Software Architect at Hadapt, and is a co-inventor of Hadapt’s Adaptive Analytical Platform™. Before coming to Yale to work on his PhD in large scale data warehousing, Kamil spent 6 years in the software industry, designing and developing new solutions, and leading teams of engineers at Contium S.A. and Sabre Holdings.

Kamil holds Master’s degrees in computer science from Wroclaw University of Technology and Yale University.

Dr. Mingsheng Hong

Chief Data Scientist

Mingsheng is Hadapt’s Chief Data Scientist and is responsible for driving Hadapt’s product roadmap and incubating advanced analytic use cases. Prior to Hadapt, Mingsheng was Field CTO at Vertica, an HP Company, where he was instrumental in the development of Vertica’s Analytics Platform (specifically, auto-tuning, and time series and pattern matching in-database analytics).

Mingsheng earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cornell University, where he built Cayuga, the world’s first expressive and scalable Complex Event Processing (CEP) engine. He also co-founded the Microsoft CEDR event processing project, which became the Microsoft StreamInsight technology shipped with SQL Server 2008 and 2012. Mingsheng is a frequent speaker on Big Data, regularly participating in panels and delivering keynote addresses at industry and academic events such as Hadoop World, TDWI, the Cube, and Harvard Business School. He also serves as the President of NECINA, a non-profit, non-political organization focused on promote cutting-edge technologies, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Scott Howser

Vice President of Marketing

Scott serves as the VP of Marketing at Hadapt with responsibilities for marketing, product marketing, product management, and business development. Scott brings more than 15 years of unique high tech perspective to Hadapt, both as an enterprise customer and technology solutions provider. Prior to joining Hadapt, Scott was Vice President of Product Marketing at Vertica, an HP Company, with responsibility for product messaging, corporate branding, and establishing best practices for deployment and solutions architectures. Prior to Vertica, Scott was a Global Technical Director at F5 Networks, focused primarily on the Data Solutions technology portfolio, assisting product management and product marketing in developing strategies to facilitate the adoption of emerging file virtualization technologies. Earlier in his career Scott held various positions at EMC and Discover Financial Services.

Scott earned an M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, an M.S.I.S.M from Loyola University Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree from Ohio Dominican University.

Chris Rocca

Vice President of Engineering

Chris leads the development of Hadapt’s Adaptive Analytical Platform. Having spent the past 25 years building world-class engineering organizations in data management and data center infrastructure management, Chris’ experience enables Hadapt to accelerate product development activities and further solidify the company’s leadership position as the SQL-based analytical platform for Hadoop.

Prior to joining Hadapt, Chris co-founded Viridity Software, where he led the development of the company’s innovative Data Center Infrastructure Management solution, EnergyCenter. At Viridity, Chris also launched the Data Center Genome Initiative, now integrated into the Schneider Electric Data Center Management Suite (post-Viridity acquisition in 2011).

Prior to starting Viridity Software, Chris served as Vice President of Engineering at Revivio Inc., where he led the development of the company’s Continuous Data Protection storage appliance, and later worked to integrate the company’s CDP technology into solutions delivered by leading enterprise storage vendors.

Earlier in his career, Chris was a senior engineering manager at Motorola, where he led ASIC and software development organizations. He joined Motorola through the acquisition of C-Port Corporation, a successful semi-conductor startup credited with creating the Network Processor market in the late 1990s. As one of the initial technologists at C-Port, Chris held a number of technical and management positions.

Chris started his career as an engineer at Digital Equipment Corp., working in the Artificial Intelligence, Storage, and Networking Systems groups. He went on to work for Intermetics Inc., building software development tools for the automotive and defense industries. Later, at NuThena Systems, he developed advanced system simulation and performance modeling tools.

Chris holds a B.A. in Computer Science from Clark University.
